Mary Ann Robinson, loved helping others
Mary Ann Robinson, 84, of Lewes, formerly of Manchester, Md., passed away Thursday, July 21, 2022, at Atlantic Shores Rehab and Health Center. She was born on Feb. 2, 1938, in Baltimore, Md., daughter of the late Frederick E. and Dorothy Mae (Crawford) Polanco.
Mary Ann was born with a passion to serve those around her. Earlier in her life, she was employed at the Hampstead Bank before going on to work in home health as a personal caregiver for many years, a career that she dearly loved and gave her a great sense of fulfillment.
She was an avid reader and she could frequently be found with a book in her hand. She also enjoyed cooking and going to the beach in her spare time. Her devotion to her family, however, took precedence above all. She was a loving and devoted wife, mother, grandmother, great-grandmother, sister, and friend. Mary Ann will be deeply missed by all who were fortunate enough to have known her.
In addition to her parents, Mary Ann was preceded in death by her beloved husband, Samuel D. Robinson; her sister, Barbara Stevens; and her brother, Frederick (Buddy) Polanco III. She is survived by her daughters, Kim Cotter (Rick), Kelly Destefano (Joe Jr.); her grandchildren, Kristin Brooks, Wade Cotter, Chris Cotter (Teara), Ricky Cotter (Kathy), Anthony Destefano (Devin), Joe Destefano III and Christina Destefano; her great-grandchildren, Cason Cotter, Austin Cotter, Leo Destefano, Lillie Destefano, Kaitlyn Destefano, Adam Destefano, Ashley Destefano, Justin Cotter, Cory Cotter and Chase Cotter; her sisters, Millie Oles and Dorothy Rollins; and her dear friends Gertrude (Tootie) Springer and Sandy Snowbarger, who helped her immensely.
All services will be private.
Final care has been entrusted to Parsell Funeral Home and Crematorium, Adkins-Lodge Chapel, Lewes.
In lieu of flowers, the family suggests donations in Mary Ann’s memory to the Alzheimer’s Association, alz.org.
