Mary Linda Healy Collins, loved her family
Mary Linda Healy Collins, 83, passed away Friday, Sept. 8, 2023, in Lewes. She was born in Boston, Mass., Oct. 3, 1939.
Linda was a 1957 graduate of Notre Dame Academy in Roxbury, Mass., and attended Fisher Junior College. She was a stay-at-home mother and wife, and lived in Scituate, Mass., Kensington, Md., and Dagsboro.
Linda was a loving wife to William Edward Collins III, her husband of 62 years, a devoted mother to her sons, William E. (Erin), Robert C. (Kelly), and Andrew J. (Gloria), and a beloved grandmother to seven grandchildren and three great-grandchildren. She is survived by her sister, Catherine Drummond of Yardley, Pa. Linda is predeceased by her sister, Ellen Healy of Milton, Mass., and her brothers, Daniel Healy of Braintree, Mass., and Charles Healy of Portsmouth, R.I.
Linda was a formidable force on the bridge table and on the links as a member of Hatherly Country Club in Scituate, Columbia Country Club in Chevy Chase, and Cripple Creek Golf and Country Club in Dagsboro. She completed the Sunday New York Times crossword puzzle correctly every week.
Above all, Linda loved her family, and was happiest traveling with Bill and preparing lavish Thanksgiving, Christmas, and Sunday meals for her family and friends from near and far. She adored time spent with her grandchildren, especially in the kitchen, and was not only an expert at creating airy, buttery pie crusts, mouth-watering Southern fried chicken, and irresistible Toll House cookies from scratch, she was the undisputed champion baker of pecan rolls, a signature family favorite.
Linda had a quick wit and a dry sense of humor, yet always maintained a quiet strength and grace throughout her life. She will be greatly missed by her family and friends.
A funeral Mass will take place at 11 a.m., Friday, Nov. 10, at St. Ann’s Catholic Church, 691 Garfield Pkwy., Bethany Beach, with a viewing at 10 a.m.
