Maryland man arrested for cocaine possession, fake ID
Dewey Beach police have arrested a 20-year-old Maryland man for possession of cocaine and a fake ID.
About 10:56 p.m., June 26, officers responded to a call regarding the use of a suspected fake ID. Upon officers’ arrival at the scene, a male subject fled on foot. After a brief foot pursuit, the subject was taken into custody without further incident and transported to the police department.
The individual was identified as Dylan Hoffman, 20, of Chevy Chase, Md. Officers discovered a fake ID and 7.4 grams of cocaine.
Although Hoffman initially refused to provide his name or date of birth, he eventually complied. He declined to submit to a portable breath test; however, officers detected the odor of alcohol, and evidence suggests Hoffman may have been under the influence of both alcohol and cocaine.
Hoffman was charged with felony drug possession, possession of a fictitious identification, resisting arrest and offenses related to underage alcohol consumption. He was arraigned at the Justice of the Peace Court 7 and was released on his own recognizance.
