Master Gardeners to hold spring and summer workshops
The Sussex County Master Gardeners will hold spring and summer workshops, with classes held via Zoom and in person at the Carvel Center in Georgetown. All classes are free unless noted, but preregistration is required by visiting udel.edu/0013409. For those attending Zoom sessions, an email with the link will be sent 24 hours before the workshop.
• New To Delaware, 1 p.m., Thursday, May 8, available in person and Zoom. Presented by Master Gardeners Susan Trone and Linda Peters, the workshop will provide recent arrivals to the area with information on the environment, soil, temperature, heat zones and the coastal plain
• Selection and Care of Trees for Small Properties, 6:30 p.m., Tuesday, May 20, available in person and Zoom. Master Gardener Joyce Roman will discuss performing a site assessment, selecting a tree, and planting and care.
• From Patch to Plate, 1 p.m., Thursday, June 5, in person only. Master Gardener Judy Pfister will host a workshop designed for homeschooled children that includes hands-on activities including rock painting, tasting a strawberry smoothie and take-home paper games.
• Invasive Plants – Not our Friends, 1 p.m., Tuesday, June 17, in person only. Master Gardeners Jessica Clark and Karen Kollias will cover information on invasive plants including how to identify, remove and replace them.
Movie Night – Restoring Insects, 6:30 p.m., Tuesday, July 15, in person only. Doug Tallamy will explore the vital role insects play in the ecosystem and present a science-based approach to restoring their populations.
