Memorial brick honors veteran Gerald Wingate
Virginia Wingate dedicated a brick in memory of her late husband Gerald Wingate in the Kent County Veterans Memorial Park in Dover Nov. 6.
As a member of the U.S. Navy, Wingate served in Vietnam during 1966-68. He passed away in September. Although her husband was a member of Vietnam Veterans of America Chapter 1105 in Sussex County, Virginia Wingate asked that his memorial brick be placed in Dover because of the park's beauty and multiple friends he had in the chapter.
Bricks are ordered on a quarterly basis, and his was the last one placed prior to the Veterans Day event held Nov. 14.
