Mermaid Camp sessions to start June 7

April 18, 2022

Mermaid Tasha LLC will present two local weeks of Mermaid Camp featuring mermaid swim lessons, photoshoots and environmental education for aspiring mermaids and mermen ages 8-15.

During the mermaid intensive, participants undergo a mermaid transformation in their own new mermaid tail. Mermaids (and mermen) will learn how to swim safely and properly in their tail, and how to care for the environment and various marine life found locally. The camp will end with a mermaid photoshoot and posing lesson.

An after-school camp will be held from 4 to 6 p.m., Tuesday to Friday, June 7 to 10,  at a New Road location in Lewes. The four-day camp fee is $200.

A morning camp will meet from 8 to 10 a.m., Monday to Friday, Aug. 15 to 19, also at a New Road location in Lewes. The five-day camp fee is $250.

To register, go to eventbrite.com and search Mermaid Camp.

Upon completion of the camp, mermaids/mermen will earn their FinFun Mermaid University certificates. Included in the fees are each camper’s certificate, mermaid tail and monofin to keep, photoshoot, arts and crafts, and instruction.

Mermaid Tasha LLC is owned and operated by Tasha Haight. She is a 10-year lifeguard, PADI divemaster and NAUI skin diving and mermaid instructor. Haight is on the elite team of professional mermaids at Circus Siren Entertainment. During the camps, a photographer and additional safety staff are brought in, as campers’ safety is the No. 1 priority.
