MezCali Dewey Beach wins Restaurant Olympics

August 13, 2021

Thirteen teams gathered on the bayside at the Hyatt Place Dewey Beach for a friendly, but competitive Restaurant Olympics, and when the sand was brushed off, MezCali stood holding the Olympic trophy and bragging rights for a year.

Dewey Business Partnership hosted the olympics where 13 restaurants fielded coed teams of athletes who usually carry trays of drinks, but not while running against competition in the dry sand.

Events were the Tray Race, Leaky Pipe, Sock Challenge, Dizzy Bats, and Raft Race, with a tug of war used to choose the winner from among the the five finalists.

First-place MezCali was followed by second-place Dewey Beach Country Club, and Sirvida showed at third. Dogfish Head took fourth place followed by Starboard Raw in fifth.
