Michael A. Volta, Vietnam veteran

Michael A. Volta, 72, of Ocean View, formerly of Lansdowne, Pa., passed away Saturday, Aug. 31, 2019, at Peninsula Regional Medical Center in Salisbury, Md.

He was born in Philadelphia, Pa., May 27, 1947, son of the late Michael A. Volta and Michelena (Dippolito) Volta.  Mike proudly served his country in the U.S. Air Force during the Vietnam War.  He worked as an outside machinist for the Philadelphia Naval Shipyard for 31 years.

Mike was affectionately known as “High Tech Mike” as he enjoyed and bought all types of electronical gadgets to keep himself occupied.  He was a huge Philadelphia Eagles fan, and also enjoyed boating and photography.  Mike was a member of the American Legion, VFW and the Fraternal Order of the Eagles.

He is survived by his loving wife of 43 years, Jonette (Pyle) Volta; a brother, Anthony Volta and his wife Angela of Philadelphia; a niece, Deanna Tutka and her husband Edward of Bellmawr, N.J.; cousins, John and JoAnn Zygmunt of Hamilton Square, N.J., and their two children, John and Jeff Zygmunt, both of Hamilton Square; and a goddaughter, Caitlin Iacobacci of Collegeville, Pa.

A prayer service will be held at 2 p.m., Saturday, Sept. 14, at the Ocean View Chapel of Melson Funeral Services, 38040 Muddy Neck Road, Ocean View, where friends and family may visit after 1 p.m.  Interment will be private.
