Milford Senior Center mural to honor nation’s history

March 1, 2026

In celebration of  America’s Semiquincentennial, and in honor of the service and sacrifice of U.S. military veterans, Milford Senior Center announced its new patriotic mural project.

The large-scale tribute will grace the walls of the Veterans’ Cove area within the center. The design will highlight the City of Milford’s significant contributions to the nation’s 250-year history, creating a powerful visual narrative of patriotism, service and local pride. Leading the project is local artist Heather Reaves, whose work will bring the vision to life.

Milford Senior Center members will assist in the painting process, making the mural a collaborative, intergenerational and community-driven effort. Funds raised in support of the project will support the refurbishment of Veterans’ Cove and help the center continue providing essential services to members, including free transportation and low-cost meals.

“Our hope is to partner with area schools, community organizations and businesses to achieve our goals. The mural will also be an educational opportunity for school-age children and other members of the community who frequently visit Milford Senior Center throughout the year for various annual festivals, events and open houses,” said Amy Waltz, executive director. “This mural will stand as a symbol of gratitude, history, and community – one that will inspire and honor generations to come.”
