Mill Pond Garden to welcome mid-spring visitors April 28

April 23, 2024

Mill Pond Garden will open to visitors to spotlight mid-spring flowers from 10 a.m. to 12 p.m., Sunday, April 28, at 31401 Melloy Court, Lewes. This is a rain-or-shine event. Tickets, available at millpondgarden.com, are $18 to admit a vehicle with up to six visitors.

In flower will be late exotic azaleas, weigela, viburnums, a score of varieties of clematis, rhododendrons, native pitcher plants in the frog pond, roses galore, iris, late bulbs like native camassia, magnolia banana shrub, the beautiful Hakuro Nishiki tricolor willow and the magnificent golden white willow, and the drooping cascades of very temporary new leaves on Japanese coral bark maples, not to be missed for their fairy-world effect in landscape.

Visitors to Mill Pond Garden experience exuberance in colors and shapes to enjoy, and ideas to take home.

Along with five gardeners on staff, the professional horticultural botanical garden has nearly a half-mile of pathways beautifully landscaped with water features, fountains, ponds, arbors with vines, stream, lots of birds and wildlife, fronting on picturesque Red Mill Pond.
