Millsboro couple celebrates 71 years of marriage

Winfield T. and Arzella (Shannon) Stewart of Millsboro celebrated their 71st wedding anniversary Oct. 16. 

Win and Arzie met while attending Richardson Park School and graduated in 1948 from Henry C. Conrad High School, Wilmington. They were married in 1954, in the wake of Hurricane Hazel, at Calvary United Presbyterian Church, Wilmington, by the late Rev. Robert M. Russel Jr. 

Win is retired from the DuPont Company Chambers Works in Deepwater, N.J., and Arzie retired from the Delaware House of Representatives in Dover. 

Their children are Rennee L. Stewart of Long Beach, Miss., retired USAF Lt. Col. James L. Stewart of Bear, and Patti J. Stewart of Lewes. They are the amazing grandparents of Jennifer Lahuta, Michael Lahuta, Katherine Stewart, Tiffany Winkle, Daniel Souders and Alex Souders; and the awesome great- grandparents of Braxton and Madison Winkle, and Mary-Myles and James Lahuta.
