Millsboro DAR raises funds with tea party
The Maj. Nathaniel Mitchell Chapter of the Georgetown/Millsboro National Society Daughters of the American Revolution hosted a high tea party fundraiser April 12 at the Millsboro Public Library.
With a theme of Colonial America, chapter members and guests were encouraged to dress in period costumes. Tea, sandwiches, sweets and treats were served, while various donated gift baskets and door prizes were raffled off, in addition to a prize given for the best hat.
In a musical and anecdotal presentation, performing artist Karen Knight portrayed Abigail Adams, America’s second first lady.
More than $1,500 was raised to support the chapter’s Selbyville Hometown Heroes banner project, which honors and recognizes veterans from World War I to the present.
