Millsboro men face drug, weapon charges

Two Millsboro men face drug and weapons charges Jan. 22 following a drug investigation.

Members of the Sussex County Drug Unit, the Sussex County Governor’s Task Force, and Delaware State Police Special Operations Response Team executed a search warrant at a residence on the 30000 block of Friendship Road in Millsboro for the distribution of illegal narcotics from the home, police said, and arrested Douglas Clay, 66, and Kenneth Peters, 59, without incident.

Inside the home, police said they found about 8.41 grams of mushrooms; about .05 gram of methamphetamine; about .01 gram of crack cocaine; a digital scale and drug paraphernalia; a sawed-off 12-gauge shotgun; ammunition; and two large, fixed blade knives.

Both men were taken to Troop 4 and charged with possession with intent to deliver a controlled substance and possession of drug paraphernalia. Clay was also charged with possession of a firearm during the commission of a felony; possess, purchase, own, or control a firearm/destructive weapon if previously convicted of a violent felony, possess, purchase, own, or control of a firearm or ammunition by a person prohibited prior violent crime or felony; and possession of destructive weapon – sawed off shotgun.

Peters was also charged with two counts possession of a deadly weapon during the commission of a felony; possession with intent to deliver a controlled substance, tier 2; and possession of a controlled substance, tier 2. Both men were arraigned by Justice of the Peace Court 2, and committed to Sussex Correctional Institution - Clay in default of a $19,000 secured bond, and Peters in default of $48,700 cash bond.
