The Milton 8-10 all-stars fell in the first game of East Regionals Aug. 2, dropping a 9-1 game to New York in Cranston, R.I.
Milton outhit its opponent 5-4, but committed six errors in the field. New York managed nine runs on just four hits.
At the plate, Wyatt Dean, Henry Hill, Bryce DeLacy, Jacob Reynolds and Roman Schlezes each collected a hit. Krew Johnson scored Milton’s only run. Reynolds had the lone RBI.
Johnson got the start on the mound. None of the six runs scored during his 2.2 innings of work were earned. He struck out four and walked four. Hill and Jaxon Kulp combined to pitch the rest of the game.
Milton will be back in action at 7:30 p.m., Monday, Aug. 4, when they take on New Jersey. Pool play continues through Wednesday, Aug. 6. Play-in games are set for Thursday, Aug. 7, with the championship game for the Mid-Atlantic region set Friday, Aug. 8, and the East Regional, Saturday, Aug. 9.
During the boys’ off day Aug. 3, the squad toured historic Fenway Park in Boston, then attended the afternoon game between the Red Sox and Houston Astros.
