Milton 8-10 rolling to start Pat Knight tournament

684 squad comes from behind to topple Woodbridge, remain unbeaten
July 24, 2025

The Town of Milton is enjoying quite the successful Little League all-star season, and the 8-10 Pat Knight team seems intent on keeping the party going.

Referring to themselves as the Miltons, the boys followed a 17-15 victory over Lower Sussex with a come-from-behind 9-8 win over Woodbridge July 23 in Georgetown.

Mason Pisapia opened the scoring with a bases-clearing three-run double in the first inning to score Parker Graves, Rowen Duncan and Landon Reber. Asher Johnson doubled in Conor Williams the following inning to extend Milton’s lead to 4-0.

Woodbridge cut the lead in half in the bottom of the second inning before Duncan sent one into the outfield to score Graves. With a 5-2 lead, things seemed to be in Milton’s control, but Woodbridge stormed back to take a 7-5 lead at the end of the third inning.

Although they seemed dejected, the lads rallied once again to keep their inning scoring streak alive, cutting the lead down to 7-6. Woodbridge struck again in the fourth inning, but an out at home followed by a ground out to first baseman Luke Underwood kept Milton in a contest that only allows five runs per inning.

Johnson’s single to open the fifth and final inning sparked a rally cry for Milton, down 8-6, and Josh Brittingham kept the pressure on with a walk. Huk O’Brien put the Miltons within one run on a single that scored Johnson. Dawson Libby’s sacrifice plated Brittingham and put O’Brien on third.

As Brantley Peterson took ball three to make it a full count, the ball slipped passed the catcher. O’Brien managed to slide safely into home as he was met with a little contact, giving Milton a 9-8 advantage.

Duncan was given the ball to maintain the slimmest of margins, and while things started shaky with a hit by pitch, he gathered himself to induce a pop-up, caught by Pisapia. As Duncan finished off the second of two straight strikeouts to end the game, the team gathered around him to celebrate their late-game, late-night victory.

Milton is set to square off against Millsboro at 8 p.m., Monday, July 28, at Georgetown Little League.
