Milton baseball major all-stars in survival mode after Mid-Sussex loss
A dominating performance from Mid-Sussex pitcher Dom Squillante kept the Milton major all-stars off the scoreboard July 9, in a 5-0 loss at Georgetown Little League.
Squillante fanned seven batters and gave up only four hits through 4.2 innings of work, while Dylan Deloy shut the door with two strikeouts in the 1.1 innings he was on the mound.
Brody Pegelow was on the bump for Milton; he collected five punch outs in three innings. Hudson Hartstein fired two frames in relief, recording three strikeouts.
Deloy led off for Mid-Sussex in the first and socked a double to center field. Deloy came around to score when Squillante landed on second after nearly going yard.
Milton turned off the faucet the next two innings, but a four-run fourth inning from the hosts put the game away for good.
Cooper Lewis scored the first run when Ethan Baum bunted him home. Brody Timmons touched the plate on Baron Cleary’s single, before Baum crossed himself. Cleary wrapped up the scoring when Deloy hit into a fielder’s choice. Two quick outs followed to mitigate further damage.
Recording hits for Milton in the 5-0 loss were Brody Snyder, Brodie Deas, Dominic Nelson and Beau Mears.
The loser of the Lower Sussex/Nanticoke game, played after the Cape Gazette deadline, will battle Milton at 7 p.m., Friday, July 11, in Georgetown.
