Milton downs Lewes in 8-10 Pat Knight game

In a strong showing for both teams, the Milton 8-10 Pat Knight all-stars downed their Lewes rivals 6-5 July 25 in Georgetown.

Lewes got on the board in the bottom of the first inning when Max Bradshaw slammed a single. But Milton took the lead in the top of the second when they scored three. They added another run in the third.

Lewes pulled within one the bottom of the third. Both teams then rallied to score two runs in the fifth, but Milton held on in the sixth to end the game with a one-run victory.

Milton was led by Jase DeLacy who went 3-for-3 with an RBI. Brock Davis went 1-for-2 with an RBI. Nash Dondarski went 1-for-3 with an RBI.  Brody Hopkins, Camden Bloom and Aiden Veith each had a hit.

Ike O’Brien toed the rubber for Milton, pitching three innings, allowing three runs and striking out seven batters. Brock Davis came in from the bullpen, allowing one run and striking out two.

Lewes was led by Max Bradshaw who went 2-for-2 with an RBI. Scotty Crossan delivered an RBI, while Deacon Jones pounded two hits. Conor Cleary and Bryce Leinbach each had a hit.

Bentley Jackson, Jones, Leinbach, Ahmere Peterson and Javion Turnage shared the mound for the Lewes squad, striking out six Milton batters.

“I was very impressed with our 8- to 10-year-old Pat Knight team as well as Milton’s team,” said Lewes manager Patrick Jackson. “All the boys played well which made for an exciting game that came down to the wire. With the two towns being located next to each other, many of the families have known each other for years which made this a really cool game to watch. As a coach and a parent, I really enjoy seeing the growth of the players as they develop their skill level over the season.”

He was inducted into Cape High’s Legends Stadium in 2016. In his spare time, Dan enjoys spending time with his wife, two sons, grandchildren and dogs.
