Milton Farmers Market to celebrate 50 Shades of Peach at July 24 Peach Festival
The annual Peach Festival comes to the Milton Farmers Market from 3 to 6 p.m., Friday, July 24, bringing 50 Shades of Peach to the field at Dogfish Craft Brewery. An abundance of peach-flavored and peach-themed offerings will help to celebrate the season’s favorite fuzzy-skinned fruit.
Aromatic and beautiful displays start at the T.S. Smith and Sons tent, where just-picked peach selections range from sweet whites to juicy yellow varieties. More fresh peaches tempt market visitors at the Stag Run Farms canopy, with flavorful samples from the newest and third largest orchard in Delaware.
Farm-fresh peaches have already been incorporated in delectable baked goods available across the grounds. Pasqualini’s Bakery will sell their signature peach pies, peach donuts, peach monkey bread and peach shortcake at this special event. And the table at Nana’s Delights will tempt passersby with just-baked peach upside down cake plus full or individually-sized servings of delicious peach cobbler.
Yum Yum’s tent will offer peach cupcakes, where the season's favorite fruit flavors not only the cake batter, but also the icing. Yum Yum will also debut their gluten-free peach scones at the July 24 event. La Bella brings peach pecan muffins to the Peach Festival, and Old World Breads expands their all-natural selections this week with peach-almond Danish and peach buckle coffee cakes. Old World Breads also has peach basil lemonade to quench visitors' thirst from walking around the market grounds, whereas Abbott’s Grill’s beverage of the day is peach-infused sweet tea. And Dogfish Head will have their trademark Festina Peche ale on tap.
Fifty shades of peach continues with Rehoboth Dairy’s freshly churned peach ice cream, available in cones or take-home containers. Blotto Gelato serves up an appropriate new flavor, Fuzzy Tongue, mixing peach ambrosia wine with fresh fruit. La Bella Farms will bring vanilla honey peach butter to their tent, along with their homemade bourbon peach jam. Over at the Backyard Jams and Jellies tent, market patrons can choose peach-based homemade jams and jellies, including blueberry-peach jam, peach-raspberry jam, peach-hot pepper jam and peach jelly.
Abbott’s Grill will switch it up a bit at the Peach Festival with a peach-based barbeque sauce for their scrumptious grilled-on-site chicken, as well as a peach relish for their sizzling hot dogs. And, to celebrate the day even more, they offer a peachy attitude for that fuzzy feeling.
Peach-scented soaps will be available at the Milton Farmers Market. Heatherscents brings their luxury blend new Summer Peach soap and also peach bath salts to their tent. And Lavender Fields offers their own brand new peach soap, sold exclusively at Milton Farmers Market and their farm.
There’s always live music at the Milton Farmers Market, so attendees may bring their peachy selections to the shaded seating in front of the performance area, and enjoy this week’s good-time music from Charlie and the Arthritics. Free parking is available on-street or in the DFH parking lot.
