Memorial Day weekend will see the return of the Milton Farmers Market, this time at a new location, starting at 4 p.m., Friday, May 26.

This version of the farmers market will be run by the Cape Community Fund, which has taken over market operations from the Milton Fire Department Ladies Auxiliary. The market will now be held at the Milton Historical Society lot across from the Milton library on Union Street.

Proceeds from market sales will go to support the Cape Community Fund, which provides critically needed resources to families in the Cape Henlopen School District who have suffered from accident, illness or unexpected catastrophe.

Farmers markets in Milton have operated under different models over recent years, with the most recent being the Broadkill Farmers Market, which was held across from the fire hall on Front Street. Mary Ann Warrington, ladies auxiliary president, said the organization decided to step down from running the market this year, but the Cape Community Fund expressed interest in keeping it going, and a transition was worked out.

Warrington said the ladies auxiliary thanks everyone for their support during the two years of the Broadkill Farmers Market.
