Milton Fire Department hands out Fire Prevention Awards

Milton Fire Department held its annual Fire Prevention Awards Jan. 30 at the fire hall, as the department and its ladies auxiliary honored students from local schools for their posters and essays about fire prevention.

Each student was given a medal, as well as gift cards from McDonald’s and Walmart. 

The winners included:

From H.O. Brittingham Elementary: Troy Maclay, kindergarten special needs; Nolan Spotts, first grade special needs; Archer Wyatt, second grade special needs; Dylan Sandler, kindergarten; Evalina Sadkowski, first grade; Mackenzie Carr, second grade; and Alondra Gonzalez-Ramirez, third grade. 

From Delmarva Christian Academy: Gracelyn Wall, kindergarten; Blake Baker, first grade; Amara Graves, second grade; Julia Reiske, third grade; Brynn Jenson, fourth grade; and Emily Chrobak, fifth grade.

From Milton Elementary: Julia Manning, kindergarten; Natalie Bush, first grade; Nora Lotter, second grade; Ivy McNeely, third grade; Bryce Delacy, fourth grade; and Alexandria Olson, fifth grade.

From Mariner Middle: seventh-graders Jacob Cahall, David Bradley Jr. and Joseph Izquierdo-Gavilan. 

 

Ryan Mavity covers Milton and the court system. He is married to Rachel Swick Mavity and has two kids, Alex and Jane. Ryan started with the Cape Gazette all the way back in February 2007, previously covering the City of Rehoboth Beach. A native of Easton, Md. and graduate of Towson University, Ryan enjoys watching the Baltimore Ravens, Washington Capitals and Baltimore Orioles in his spare time.
