Milton majors fall to Mid-Sussex in District 3 tourney

The Milton major league all-stars ended the summer season July 12, with a 2-0 loss to Mid-Sussex at the Millsboro Little League Complex.

Mid-Sussex, made up of Georgetown and Millsboro players, advanced to face Lewes in the championship round of the District 3 baseball tournament.

Each team had three hits in the game. Mid-Sussex delivered a run in each of the first two innings.

Brody Timmons doubled for Mid-Sussex, while Luke Dickerson had a hit and an RBI, and Cole Robson picked up the other hit. 

Pierce Czepiel, Hudson Hartstein and Beau Mears each had a hit for Milton. 

Hartstein toed the rubber for the Milton squad, throwing five innings, allowing three hits and striking out six batters. 

“Our kids played hard,” said Milton manager Mike Nelson. “Mid-Sussex has really great pitching, and Luke Dickerson performed very well tonight. Hudson did everything he could to keep us in the game, but unfortunately we just could not get the timely hits we needed.”

Mid-Sussex is set to face Lewes at 7 p.m., Monday, July 14, at Georgetown Little League. Mid-Sussex must beat Lewes twice to claim the district championship.

Press Association. A Delaware native, Dan graduated from Cape in 1972 and returned as a teacher and coach in the 1980s. He retired from the classroom in 2016. He was inducted into Cape High’s Legends Stadium in 2016. In his spare time, Dan enjoys spending time with his wife, two sons, grandchildren and dogs.
