Milton Police teach safety at bicycle rodeo

June 30, 2025

The Milton Police Department hosted a bicycle rodeo June 21 at H.O. Brittingham Elementary School in Milton.

This rodeo centered on bicycle safety education, with young riders learning essential skills such as mounting and dismounting, steering through obstacles, stopping efficiently and weaving through tight spaces, all in a controlled, fun environment modeled after traditional bicycle rodeos.

Prior to hitting the course, participants received helmet fittings; had their bikes inspected for tire pressure, brakes and chains; and engaged in brief safety lectures. The rodeo aimed to foster safe biking habits, deepen relationships between children and law enforcement, and bring families together for a morning of educational entertainment and outdoor fun.

In addition to skill-building stations, the event featured engaging extras: giveaways of bicycles and helmets, and a chance to explore police car displays. To keep families fueled, the Caribbean Sazon food truck provided food and refreshments, enhancing the community atmosphere.
