Milton seeks to purchase Federal Street property
Milton officials are planning to purchase a Federal Street property to enable future water infrastructure projects. Town council is close to acquiring a 4-acre parcel at 614 Federal St. Council was supposed to approve the purchase in July, but the measure was tabled.
The next opportunity for approval would be council’s Monday, Aug. 5 meeting. Town Manager Kristy Rogers said she could not provide details on the cost or future use of the land until after final approval.
The real estate listing for the property shows the price as $495,000. The property backs up to Wagamons Pond and borders the Rails to Trails extension between Federal Street and Lavinia Street. The property is zoned R-3 residential.
The land at 614 Federal St. is part of four parcels listed for sale with Coldwell Banker with all parcels available either together or separately. The neighboring property at 612 Federal St. is listed at $135,000; the property has a house on it and is zoned R-1 residential. Located behind that house is an industrial park divided into two parcels that border Milton Elementary School.
