May 30, 2023

Milton VFW Post 6984 held its annual Memorial Day service May 29 to remember those who have died serving the country.

The ceremony kicked off with the raising of the American flag to half-mast by VFW members Master Gunnery Sgt. Rich Hileman, Quartermaster Robert MacLees and Staff Sgt. Allen Jackson. The event featured speeches by Milton Mayor John Collier and Rep. Stell Parker Selby, D-Milton, and a keynote address by Master Gunnery Sgt. Peter Neubauer, a veteran of conflicts in Iraq and Afghanistan. The event concluded with a moment of silence for those who have lost their lives in service and the playing of Taps.
