Monoclonal antibodies now available at Aspira Health
Aspira Health in Lewes has been authorized to give prescriptions for the monoclonal antibody medication called Evusheld, produced by AstraZeneca.
Monoclonal antibodies are molecules that are produced in a laboratory and act within the body as a substitute for naturally occurring antibodies. These antibodies can enhance/mimic the immune system's attack on infection.
Evusheld is authorized for adults and children age 12 or older who weigh a minimum of 88 pounds. Evulsheld is used as a preventative measure for those with compromised immune systems or those who have had adverse reactions to the COVID-19 vaccine.
Evulsheld is not authorized for the treatment of COVID-19, nor post exposure. For those who have been exposed, or have contracted COVID-19, Aspira Health has antiviral treatment options available by prescription. These prescriptions include Paxlovid and Molnupiravir.
