The head of the Delaware Republican Party has stepped down to serve as U.S. Attorney for the District of Delaware Court.
Julianne E. Murray was sworn in July 14, as the U.S. Attorney for the District of Delaware by Chief U.S. District Court Judge Colm F. Connolly after her appointment by Attorney General Pam Bondi to a 120-day term as U.S. Attorney.
“That role demands my full focus and undivided attention,” she wrote in a letter to the GOP Executive Committee. “Since stepping away, I have fully disengaged from all party-related functions to ensure a clear boundary between my federal responsibilities and political activities. And while I originally stepped back on a leave of absence, it has become clear that my name alone has become a distraction for the executive committee from the important work ahead.”
Murray wrote that Jim Weldin is serving as acting chair for the GOP, and she believes the organization will continue to move forward.
