Music education scholarship applications due April 26

March 16, 2026

The St. Cecilia Music Guild, an outreach ministry of St. Peter's Episcopal Church in Lewes, is now taking applications for its annual scholarship. Graduating seniors from a Sussex County high school who have been accepted to major in a collegiate music program may apply.

The $1,200 scholarship is nonrenewable and will be paid directly to the winner upon award.

Before applying, students should write/gather the following supporting materials: an essay detailing the applicant’s reason for selecting this major and goals for their career, an acceptance letter from a college or university, and a video or audio recording of a recent solo performance by the student. When these materials have been procured, students may apply online at StCeciliaGuild.org.

An online form for the teacher endorsement is also available on the website.

The deadline for applications, complete with supporting materials and a teacher endorsement, is Sunday, April 26. Applicants will be notified of the committee’s decision by Wednesday, May 6, and the guild will then award the scholarship.

The guild’s mission is to offer free public concerts by acclaimed musicians. It also awards an annual scholarship to encourage talented high school seniors in the county who want to study music.
