New 1925 Eagle Foundation supports local community
In conjunction with Rehoboth Beach Country Club’s 100th anniversary, the 1925 Eagle Foundation was established to support local charities and club employees, known as the Talon Tribe.
The foundation awarded its first grants July 25, giving $7,500 each to the Rehoboth Beach Volunteer Fire Company, Cape Henlopen Food Basket and Community Resource Center.
“The grant will help the fire company purchase newer, faster, stronger hydraulic tools – like the jaws of life,” said fire company treasurer, Leslie Kulick. The new tools will save precious moments when trying to rescue someone, she said.
“This money is a big boost to our ability to help the homeless who are vulnerable and need assistance,” said Nancy Alexander, director of the Community Resource Center.
The grants reflect the foundation’s three core giving priorities: first responders, food insecurity and support for at-risk individuals. Board members said the categories were chosen based on areas where donors were already volunteering and saw the greatest need.
“Supported by the generosity of the RBCC members, the foundation is helping our greater community,” said Scott Talbott, president of the 1925 Eagle Foundation. “We are excited to make a difference to Talon Tribe members and these three important local organizations.”
In addition to its external giving, the foundation will supports RBCC employees through scholarships and emergency grant-in-aid.
The foundation awarded its first $10,000 scholarship to an employee who will attend Delaware State University. Another $5,000 was awarded to Talon Tribe member facing a financial challenge.
“As we celebrate 100 years of tradition and community, the 1925 Eagle Foundation reflects RBCC’s enduring belief that a strong club begins with a generous heart - supporting the people who make RBCC special and the community we proudly call home,” said Sharon Covington, president, RBCC.
The 1925 Eagle Foundation operates as a separate entity from the Rehoboth Beach Country Club but shares its legacy of service and commitment to the local community.
