New Cub Scouts pack in Harbeson seeks members, volunteers
In partnership with Del-Mar-Va Council of Scouting America, the Episcopal Parish of All Saints’ Church and St. George’s Chapel announced the launch of a new Cub Scouts pack for boys and girls in kindergarten through fifth grade.
Meetings will start at the end of September at St. George’s Chapel Hall, 20332 Beaver Dam Road, Harbeson. There is ample off-street parking and the building is fully accessible.
The pack will meet once weekly and sometimes on weekends. Activities range from classic camping and hiking treks to explosive science experiments like rockets. In the Pinewood Derby, a Cub Scout tradition, kids build and race gravity-powered miniature wooden cars made from kits.
To learn more or reserve a space, email Helen Kendall at hkendall@delmarvacouncil.org and go to scouting.org. Financial assistance is available.
Since the pack will be led by parent volunteers, organizers are seeking experienced mentors who can help teach the adults how to lead a Cub Scouts pack and the outdoors skills to go along with that. To inquire about mentoring, email Gary Colangelo at garycolangelo2@comcast.net.
The mission of Scouting America is to prepare young people to make ethical and moral choices over their lifetimes by instilling in them the values of the scout oath and law.
