New Rehoboth Beach event seeks food truck vendors

To be held at Epworth Church on Holland Glade Road
August 14, 2015

Beginning in September, Epworth United Methodist Church will host twice-monthly food truck events in its parking lot on Holland Glade Road near Rehoboth Beach. Event organizers Susan Selph and Reber Whitner credit the creation of this event to the great success of Truckin’ Tuesday in Milton. “Milton Chamber Director Lisa Sumstine did a phenomenal job establishing a great event. If 600 people turn out in Milton, we are pretty sure that we can make a go of it in Rehoboth,” said Selph.

Epworth’s convenient location and ample parking lot make it an optimal spot for this type of event. The church is just off Route 1 northbound, south of the Tanger Outlets. People in Rehoboth Beach can drive or bike to Epworth without using Route 1. Epworth also sits next to the Junction & Breakwater Trail, which would allow people from Lewes to bike to the event.

The food truck event is a fundraiser for Epworth and its many outreaches and ministries, including The Soup & Love Kitchen, and Epworth Skate Park. The Soup & Love Kitchen serves a meal every Sunday from 2 to 4 p.m. Epworth Skate Park was constructed in July of last year. The skate park is free and open to the public.

Organizers of the new food truck event plan on providing a variety of options, both in types of food and in price range. “We hope to have something for everyone. Epworth practices radical hospitality, and everyone is truly welcome,” said Whitner, who co-manages the Soup & Love Kitchen at Epworth. Interested vendors should contact Susan Selph at 302-245-6193.
