Lewes bike and ped committee to meet March 26
The Lewes Bicycle and Pedestrian Advisory Committee will meet at 7 p.m., Tuesday, March 26, at the Rollins Community Center. The group will discuss public outreach opportunities, the progress of the Savannah Road bicycle and pedestrian project, and additional ideas to improve cycling and walking in Lewes. Rehoboth utility rate working group to meet March 27
The working group studying the city’s utility rate has scheduled a meeting for 9 a.m., Wednesday, March 27, and 1 p.m., Thursday, March 28. Both meetings are scheduled to take place in the commissioners room of city hall, 229 Rehoboth Ave. The agenda for both meetings calls for continued discussion on a possible new rate structure for the city’s utility ratepayers. DelDOT testing canal drawbridges this week
A contractor for the Delaware Department of Transportation will be opening and closing the drawbridges that cross the Lewes-Rehoboth Canal in Lewes and Rehoboth three times for a period of roughly 10 minutes. Testing on the Rehoboth drawbridge will be done at 11 a.m., Thursday, March 28. Testing on the Lewes drawbridge will be done at 11 a.m., Friday, March 29. Traffic will be permitted to flow in between the opening of the drawbridges. No extended delays are expected.

Cohan to address Eastern Sussex Dems March 27
The Eastern Sussex Democratic Club has invited Delaware Department of Transportation Secretary Jennifer Cohan to be the keynote speaker at its next meeting. Cohan will discuss plans for improvements to the Delaware beaches transportation corridor.
The meeting will be held Wednesday, March 27, at the Atlantic Sands Hotel in Rehoboth Beach. Registration and social hour will run from 5 to  5:45 p.m., followed by a plated dinner from 5:45 to 7 p.m. when Cohan’s remarks will begin.

Tickets for the event are $30.  Attendees may also join or renew their membership at this meeting. The annual dues are $30, and all membership fees go directly to Democratic candidates and their campaigns. Questions and ticket requests should be directed to Club President Kathy Hughes at Kathhughes925@gmail.com. Tickets will be held at the door.

Lewes byway committee to meet March 27
The Historic Lewes Byway Committee will meet at 1 p.m., Wednesday, March 27, at the Rollins Community Center. The group will recap the March 22 strategic planning meeting and receive updates to design guidelines project, pending development, and the New Road Master Plan. Lewes BPW meets March 27
The Lewes Board of Public Works will meet at 4 p.m., Wednesday, March 27, in the second-floor meeting room of the BPW, 107 Franklin Ave. The board will discuss and vote on the 2019-20 operations and maintenance budget, and the 2019-23 capital budget.
They will also consider a request for waiver of a pre-annexation agreement for a property on New Road; a request from Masala Hospitality Group, whixh will be opening an Indian restaurant on Savannah Road between Heirloom and The Buttery, to postpone impact fees one year; and discussion of principles of governance. Cape Henlopen school board to meet March 28
The Cape Henlopen school board will meet at 6 p.m., Thursday, March 28, at H.O. Brittingham Elementary.
Members will take possible action on the 2019-20 district calendar and several board policies. Referendum reform legislation and opportunity funding will be presented and discussed.

Rehoboth planners set workshop March 29
The Rehoboth Beach Planning Commission has scheduled a workshop for 1 p.m., Friday, March 29, in the commissioners room of city hall, 229 Rehoboth Ave. The agenda calls for development of the comprehensive development plan survey questionnaires that will be used to gather public opinion responses.
