Cape Gazette posts early deadline

Cape Gazette business offices will be closed Friday, Sept. 4. The classified advertising deadline for the Tuesday, Sept. 8 edition has been moved up to noon, Thursday, Sept. 3. All other deadlines remain the same as usual.

Rehoboth environment committee to meet

The Rehoboth Beach Law Oversight Committee has scheduled an online meeting for 11 a.m., Friday, Sept. 4. 

The agenda calls for further discussion on 5G antenna installation and on an ordinance proposing to ban single-use plastics. The agenda also calls for preliminary discussions on a climate action plan and impervious surface policies.

Rehoboth seeks applicants for boards, committees

Rehoboth Beach Mayor-elect Stan Mills is soliciting interest in membership on the planning commission, board of adjustment, parks and shade tree commission, and other committees.

Members serving on boards and committees shall possess sufficient knowledge, experience and background necessary to ultimately serve the board or committee to which they are appointed. There are varying degrees of commitment, and membership requirements differ depending on the board or committee.

Interested individuals should submit an application to the city secretary. Applications are available at cityofrehoboth.civicweb.net/Portal/CitizenEngagement.aspx.

Lewes HPARC public hearing set Sept. 1

The Lewes Historic Preservation Architectural Review Commission will hold a virtual public hearing at 2 p.m., Tuesday, Sept. 1.

The hearing will be on a request to demolish a rear unit of an existing two-story dwelling at 404 Rodaline Ave., a contributing structure. A link to the meeting can be found at lewes.civicweb.net.

Lewes HPARC regular meeting set Sept. 1

The Lewes Historic Preservation Architectural Review Commission will hold its monthly meeting virtually immediately following its 2 p.m. public hearing. The group will consider the proposed demolition at 404 Rodaline Ave., and a request from Lewes Historical Society for the reassembly/installation of a menhaden fishing net reel the LHS complex on Shipcarpenter Street. Lewes Action Plan Subcommittee to meet

The Lewes Planning Commission Action Plan Subcommittee will meet virtually at 3:30 p.m., Wednesday, Sept. 2. A link to the meeting can be found at lewes.civicweb.net.

Lewes council public hearings set Sept. 3

Lewes Mayor and City Council will hold a pair of virtual public hearings Thursday, Sept. 3, at 6 p.m.

The first hearing is to gather comment on a plan to amend the comprehensive plan’s future land-use map to show a change on Milford Avenue from residential to open space.

The second hearing will be on an ordinance to amend city code related to the R-4 zone, lot averaging and other zoning matters. A copy of the proposed changes can be found attached to the agenda at lewes.civicweb.net.

DelDOT has Labor Day weekend plans

For the Labor Day weekend, the Delaware Department of Transportation will suspend lane closures from 12:01 a.m., Friday, Sept. 4, until 12:01 a.m., Tuesday, Sept. 8. Ongoing lane shifts and/or lane closures may still be in effect in certain areas.

DelDOT’s Transportation Management Center monitors Delaware’s multimodal transportation system and coordinates DelDOT’s response to any incident or event that impacts the transportation system to include adjusting traffic signals. Motorists can contact the TMC by dialing #77 from cellphones in Delaware, or calling 302-659-4600 or 1-800-324-8379.

E-ZPass express lanes and cash lanes will be open at I-95 and Biddles toll plaza, and Dover toll plaza on Route 1. The Biden Welcome Center on I-95 and the Smyrna rest area/exit 119 on Route 1 or Route 13 in Smyrna will be open.

DART’s beach bus services and Route 305 beach connection will be in operation, with complimentary ADA-only service for paratransit. All other fixed route and paratransit services will not operate over the Labor Day weekend.

To promote the use of contactless, cashless fare payments using the DART Pass mobile payment app, DART is offering further discounts on daily, 7-day and 30-day passes.
