Rehoboth city hall closed Nov. 24, 25

In observance of Thanksgiving, Rehoboth Beach City Hall, 229 Rehoboth Ave., will be closed Thursday and Friday, Nov. 24 and 25.

There will be no residential trash pickup Thursday, Nov. 24. Regular trash pickup will resume city-wide Friday, Nov. 25. For more information, contact the communications department at 302-227-6181, Ext. 522 or communications@cityofrehoboth.com.

Lewes sets public hearings for Dec. 5

Lewes Mayor and City Council will hold three public hearings starting at 6 p.m., Monday, Dec. 5, at the Rollins Center.  Officials will open the floor for public discourse on through lots, annexation zones, and a request from First Baptist Church to demolish the existing building and construct a new one. Salaverria appointed to Lewes commission

Lewes Mayor and City Council appointed Marcos Salaverria Nov. 14 to serve as an ex officio member of the Lewes African American Heritage Commission.

Salaverria is the Lewes Historical Society director of education and has been working with Lewes community members on documenting oral histories of area African Americans.

More information about the Oral History Roundtable Series “Voices of the Ancestors” is available at historiclewes.org. The final session of the series, discussing armed services is set from 5 to 7 p.m., Monday, Nov. 28, at the Lewes History Museum.

Lewes adopts comp plan addendum

Lewes Mayor and City Council voted unanimously to adopt the addendum of the 2015 Comprehensive Plan as part of the Lewes Planning Commission’s Five Year Review. Officials have requested that Gov. John Carney certify the addendum, but it took effect when the ordinance was adopted Nov. 14.
