Rehoboth BoA, tree meetings canceled
The Rehoboth Beach Board of Adjustment and Parks and Shade Tree Commission meetings set for Monday, May 22, have been canceled.
According to city-issued notices, the shade tree commission meeting was canceled due to scheduling conflicts, while the BoA meeting was canceled due to lack of agenda items.

Dewey approves current comp plan
Dewey Beach commissioners voted unanimously April 21 to approve the current comprehensive plan for another five years.
Commissioner Gary Persinger said the state asked if the town was satisfied with its current plan, so he asked comp plan committee members to review the plan’s objectives and actions for concerns or potential changes.
Feedback did not indicate the need for any substantive changes, he said, so the town can continue with the current plan for the next five years before completing a new one.
Manufactured home owners to meet
Delaware Manufactured Home Owners Association will hold a general membership meeting on Zoom and in person at 6:30 p.m., Monday, May 22, at a new location, Mariners Cove Clubhouse, 35356 Sussex Lane, Long Neck. Summer fundraising information will be available.
A nonprofit entity, DMHOA represents the interests of homeowners living in manufactured housing on leased land all over Delaware. Zoom call information is available on the DMHOA website, dmhoa.org.
Overhead sign work planned for Route 1
Crews will be relocating overhead signs on existing support structures along northbound Route 1 between Munchy Branch Road and Old Landing Road starting at 9 p.m., Monday, May 22. Work is expected to be complete by 5 a.m., Tuesday, May 23.
This work is weather dependent. Motorists traveling through the area should expect minor delays and use caution.

DelDOT: Crews in place for line striping
Crews will be placing line stripes along Route 1 between Bay Vista Road and Bayard Avenue from 9 p.m. to 5 a.m. nightly through Friday, May 26. Lewes meeting set for May 22
Lewes Mayor and City Council will meet at 6:30 p.m., Monday, May 22, at city hall.
Mayor Andrew Williams will, with majority consent, make appointments for council, committee and other government positions.
Williams will proclaim June 2 as Gun Violence Awareness Day. Life-saving awards will be presented to Pfc. Nick Yatsko, Patrolman Kyle Pankik, John Tyson, Debbies Tyson and Hunter McFalls for providing life-saving support to a citizen. Phillip Poorman will be sworn in as a new member of the Lewes Police Department.
Old business includes presentations and possible votes on proposed Lewes City Charter amendments and beekeeping regulations. Council may schedule public hearings concerning manufactured home regulations, HPARC’s review criteria, and off-street loading related to site-development plan review.
New business includes presentations and possible action to consolidate two parcels at 909 Pilottown Road, allow food trucks at the History Book Festival and Sea Glass Festival, and commit funds to help establish the Fourth Street Preserve. A public hearing may be scheduled regarding a parking lot at 423 Savannah Road.

Lewes-Rehoboth Moose fundraiser set
Lewes-Rehoboth Moose Lodge 646 will host a fundraiser starting at 11:30 a.m., Saturday, May 20, featuring fried fish and chicken dinners along with entertainment by DJ John Miller.
Dinners cost $18 and include fried fish or chicken, cornbread, collard greens, potato salad, candied yams, baked beans, and choice of cake for dessert: chocolate, pineapple upside-down, strawberry or lemon.
Supporters can eat at the lodge, 28971 Lewes-Georgetown Hwy. west of Lewes, or pick up dinners to go.
Proceeds help the Moose Lodge support its mission of helping those need, especially children and seniors. New members are always welcome; just ask any member for an application.
Budget topic May 23 at Sussex meeting
Sussex County Council will meet at 10 a.m., Tuesday, May 23, in the county administration building, 2 The Circle, Georgetown.
Included on the agenda are a fiscal year 2024 budget presentation and an update on Slam Dunk to the Beach.

Sussex approves nonprofit grants
At its May 16 meeting, Sussex County Council approved the following councilmanic grants: $5,000 to Town of Millsboro for its police department computer outfit assistance program; $3,000 to Dry Dock Recovery Inc. for a new HVAC system for its addiction recovery site; $1,400 to Town of Greenwood for its downtown revitalization project; and $2,000 (with $1,000 as a countywide youth grant) to Sussex County 4-H Exchange Group for its exchange with the Minnesota 4-H program.
New traffic signal along Route 113
A new traffic signal is in place on Route 113 at Avenue of Honor south of Georgetown. The signal is on flash for 72 hours and will switch to the normal green/yellow/red cycle starting Thursday, May 18.
Intersection work scheduled May 23
The Delaware Department of Transportation will be working from 9 a.m. to 3 p.m., Tuesday, May 23, to convert the two-way stop control at the intersection of Beaver Dam Branch Road and Hardscrabble Road west of Georgetown to an all-way-stop control with new signs and pavement markings.
