Snyder-Hall files for re-election
Rep. Claire Snyder-Hall, D-Rehoboth Beach, filed to run for re-election June 2, the first day that candidates could file in Sussex County.
“I am excited to file for re-election because I really love serving the people of the 14th District,” she said of the district that covers Rehoboth Beach, Dewey Beach and parts of Lewes. “I pride myself on responding personally to every constituent email I receive, and we have a terrific staff to help with constituent services. I also love being at the table when laws are made that affect the entire state.”
In 2024, Snyder-Hall defeated two primary opponents in September and then went on to win in the general election by more than 1,600 votes, winning every electoral district except for one. She was endorsed by the Delaware State Education Association, Delaware Public Employees Council 8, and Delaware Stonewall PAC, among others.

Board of adjustment member appointed
Sussex County Council voted June 3 to appoint a local chiropractor to serve a three-year term as the District 3 representative on the Sussex County Board of Adjustment.
Dr. Lauren Hitchens Rowan, who was born and raised in Milford, will replace Jeff Chorman, who currently chairs the five-member board. Her term will begin July 1. The panel considers applications for variances and special-use exceptions as well as appeals of administrative decisions.
Employed at Atlantic Chiropractic in Milford, Hitchens Rowan received her undergraduate degree from West Virginia University and her doctorate from Palmer College of Chiropractic in Florida.
“I care deeply about the future of Sussex County,” she told the council. “I’m eager to expand my understanding of local government and take an active role in guiding our community’s growth, making sure that development reflects the character of our values and neighborhoods.”

Rehoboth library board of trustees applications due June 15
The Rehoboth Beach Public Library board of trustees is seeking additional at-large, nonvoting members. Candidates should be dynamic, positive individuals who will bring their energy to the library. They would be part of a team that will lead the library into a new era. Planning is currently underway for a renovation/expansion of library facilities. By law, the board may only have five voting members at a given time. At-large members do not vote on decisions; however, they attend monthly meetings and provide input on the operation and future direction of the library. This is an opportunity to learn about board functions and members’ responsibilities. If interested, email rehobothbeach.library@lib.de.us no later than Sunday, June 15, with “At Large Vacancy” in the subject line.
