Children’s Beach House golf event a success

The Children’s Beach House Golf Classic, held at Peninsula Gulf and Country Club May 19, brought golfers and volunteers together for a day of charitable play and meaningful investment in CBH services for under-resourced children with communicative disabilities from across the state of Delaware.

A Sunday evening tap-in reception at Children’s Beach House in Lewes, welcomed golfers, guests and supporters for food and drink, live music, and live and silent auctions.

CBH Executive Director Rich Garrett said, “Tonight I’m reminded of a quote by the great Bobby Jones: ‘Golf is the closest game to the game we call life. You get bad breaks from good shots; you get good breaks from bad shots — but you have to play the ball where it lies.’ The children we serve have experienced challenges that are no fault of their own — bad breaks from good shots. But at Children’s Beach House, we teach them how to play the ball where it lies, with character and integrity that comes from a strong support system — like all of you.”

The event raised over $130,000, with net proceeds to support CBH’s residential camp programs, as well as its new after school and day camp programs in Milton.
