Lewes BPW reveals source of outages

A failed relay caused a series of power outages in Lewes June 23-24, according to Tom Panetta, Lewes Board of Public Works president.

“It had nothing to do with the heat; it was just coincidental. The relay failed from old age,” Panetta said at BPW’s July 23 meeting.

He said they have ordered new relays to fix the problem and prevent future outages.

Panetta said BPW is also working on a solution to an issue with the BPW call center. Customers reported that calls were disconnected when they tried to report the outages.
