Nonprofits to apply for volunteer service by Aug. 1

June 30, 2020

Area nonprofits will be visited by an army of volunteers ready to roll up their sleeves and get to work for Hands & Feet Service Day, Saturday, Sept. 26.

The event depends on area nonprofits asking for help to solve their biggest problems. Organizations working hard to serve their community often run out of time, energy and resources to maintain their facilities. Through Saturday, Aug. 1, The Bridge Christian radio station is accepting applications from nonprofits that need a helping hand.

Organization leaders should supply a full list of as many rain-or-shine jobs as they can provide for volunteers to complete.

Few things are appreciated more than a helping hand. Just ask the nonprofit organizations that benefitted from Hands & Feet Service Day over the past several years.

Volunteers have been deployed to Noah's ARC Animal Rescue and Therapy Training Facility in Magnolia to repair fences and buildings. In Bridgeville, the Home of Hope Women's Recovery Center saw hundreds of bricks removed to improve the campus landscape. T.E.A.M. Ministries by Love INC in Seaford had its facility prepared for year-round service with the help of volunteers.

Denton Camp, a camping and retreat center in Denton, Md., had carpet removed, fences cleaned, and dorms painted. Other tasks included cleaning, organizing, moving furniture, scraping paint, loading recycling and trash trailers, high dusting, landscaping and more. All of this work was accomplished by volunteers who were eager to offer a helping hand.

Community members are eager to demonstrate abundant love and strong support for their local nonprofits. Volunteers from across Delmarva will gather at the organization’s work site during Hands & Feet Service Day. The event is sponsored by Delaware Electric Cooperative and organized by The Bridge.

Nonprofit organizations with a great deal of work on their to-do lists should apply today. For more information or to apply, go to www.887thebridge.com/signup or contact Ben Sorrells at 855-887-8870.

The Bridge is at 88.7 FM and online at www.887thebridge.com.
