Open Space Alliance provides update

January 19, 2024

Many people ask us how the Open Space Alliance campaign to permanently preserve the 29-acre Fourth Street Forest property is going. We are happy to say it is going well! We are thrilled by the outpouring of support we have received for the fundraising efforts and are heartened to see the “Proud Supporter” yard signs popping up all around Lewes.

Some significant benchmarks reached include:

  • $1,976,147 in pledges and gifts received by Dec. 31 from individuals, businesses and the City of Lewes
  • More than 350 donations or pledges have been made to Fourth Street Preserve
  • In just two months, we have raised $310,417 of the $2 million needed to receive the $1 million grant from the Longwood Foundation.

We are launching our business campaign in the coming months and hope to engage even more individuals in our campaign. Thank you to all who have already donated to this once-in-a-lifetime opportunity. We look forward to your continued support and encourage all who have not yet participated to make as generous a gift as possible. The preservation of this last open forested property in the City of Lewes is critical! Go to www.osalewes.org or call 302-644-0107 to learn how you can be part of Lewes history.
