Overfalls Foundation to host Mardi Gras event Feb. 20

February 14, 2020

The Overfalls Foundation will host a Mardi Gras event with hospitality, live music and dancing from 5 to 8 p.m., Thursday, Feb. 20, at Diego’s Bar & Nightclub in Rehoboth Beach.

Attendees are asked to wear Overfalls red or Mardi Gras colors of purple, green and gold. There is no fee to attend, but there will be a 50/50 raffle and the bar will be open for business.

Cathy Gorman will be singing popular standards and show tunes from the 1930s to present day.

Diego’s has 15 beers, four wines and hard cider on tap, plus many favorite bottled beers and craft cocktails. The bar does not serve food but guests may bring something to eat. A portion of the evening’s proceeds will be donated to the Overfalls Foundation.

The Lightship Overfalls in Lewes is one of only 17 remaining lightships out of a total of 179 built from 1820 to 1952. Designated a National Historic Landmark in 2011, it is one of seven lightships in this country still open to the public.

The Overfalls Foundation is a nonprofit organization relying on the public’s support to fulfill its mission to collect, preserve, honor and teach the maritime history of Lewes, the Delaware Bay and the coastal region.

Diego’s Bar & Nightclub is at 37298 Rehoboth Ave. next to the Crystal restaurant. Free parking is available in both parking lots.
