March 14, 2023

Concert for the Kids, a live music fundraiser for Paul Kares Inc., will return to the Milton Theatre at 6:30 p.m., Sunday, April 30. In addition to the performances, the event will feature gourmet fare and a live auction.

All proceeds benefit Paul Kares, a Lewes-based nonprofit that supports young musicians and aspiring culinary professionals.

Early-bird tickets are $95 until Saturday, April 15, after which they are $115 each. To purchase, go to paulkaresde.org.

“We had a blast last year raising money to provide the education and resources that students need to put them on a career path,” said Paul Cullen, who founded Paul Kares with Jim Rivette. “This year is going to be even better.”

Cullen, the former bass player for the rock group Bad Company, and Tony Sciuto of Little River Band have collaborated to form The Bad River Band. The group also features international recording artist Robbie LeBlanc and Alex Fitzkee, the 15-year-old percussionist for the Fitzkee Brothers.

Special guests include Eliot Lewis, who has played with Todd Rundgren, Joe Walsh, Hall & Oates and the Average White Band, and he’s a familiar face on “Live from Daryl’s House.”

The Cape Henlopen High School jazz band and orchestra will also perform.

“It’s a fantastic lineup featuring international, national and regional talent, but we have a lot more in store for our guests who have supported our mission. It will be a fun night,” said Michael Whitehouse, Paul Kares executive director.

Cullen’s Cullen-ary Catering and local restaurants will provide the food.

Live auction items include: a private Beatles tribute concert with Sciuto and LeBlanc for 25 guests in the winner’s home or up to 40 at The Room at Cedar Grove near Lewes, including wine, charcuterie boards and flatbread pizza; a weekend getaway and dinner for two at The Quoin, Wilmington’s newest luxury boutique hotel and Snuff Mill Restaurant, Butchery & Wine Bar; a private cocktail party for up to 25 guests with catered hors d’oeuvres, wine and live music; and a low-digit Delaware commercial license plate.

Sponsors include the Milton Theatre, Quest Adventures, Freedom Boat Club, Accent on Travel, Paul Cullen Wines, the Parker Group and the Cape Gazette.
