Pickleball event raises $60K for Delaware Womenade
A lively group of local pickleball players recently participated in Dink Out Domestic Violence, a fundraiser held at Sea Colony in Bethany Beach. In the game of pickleball, to dink out means to hit the ball out of bounds and lose a point.
Nearly $60,000 was raised for Delaware Womenade, a charity that funds services for survivors fleeing from abusive relationships. Womenade supports People's Place 2 in Milford, which provides a wide variety of services to women and children escaping domestic abuse.
Organizing the event were committee members Robin Procida, Leanne Glueck, Diane Thometz and Maria Vershel.
On behalf of Delaware Womenade, Teresa Zatcoff said, “Our mission is to inspire families and youth to transition into their next phase of growth and independence safely. We are beyond grateful to everyone who participated, including donors, sponsors, volunteers and the incredible committee.”
