Pipe bursts at Brighton Suites

June 13, 2012

A burst pipe at the Brighton Suites hotel in Rehoboth Beach May 31 left businesses in the second block of Wilmington Avenue without water for 30 to 45 minutes.

The pipe has been repaired.

The burst pipe flooded the street and the Brighton Suites garage at 34 Wilmington Ave.

Howard Blizzard, head of the city’s water department, said Brighton Suites was without water for three to four hours.

He said a temporary fix restored water; a permanent fix was installed this week. To repair the line permanently required a three-inch PVC pipe, Blizzard said, which was not available until this week. When the pipe was installed, water had to be shut down again in that area.
