Planet Delaware to celebrate plant-based living Sept. 13-15

VegRehoboth will host Planet Delaware events from Friday to Sunday, Sept. 13 to 15, including an inspiring film, engaging speakers, hands-on activities and delicious plant-based food.

Planet Delaware will kick off with a free screening of the award-winning documentary "Eating for Tomorrow" at 6 p.m., Sept. 13, at Unitarian Universalists of Southern Delaware, 30486 Lewes-Georgetown Hwy., Lewes. The event will include complimentary appetizers and a post-film discussion. 

The outdoor festival will take place from 10 a.m. to 4 p.m., Saturday, Sept. 14, at Epworth United Methodist Church, 19285 Holland Glade Road, Rehoboth Beach. The day will be packed with activities including engaging speakers, a cooking demonstration by Grandpa Mac co-owner Chef Hari Cameron, a Healing Arts Village, artisans, adoptable animals, a music tent, and a kids’ tent sponsored by the YMCA.

In addition to Cameron, the speakers lineup includes Dr. Aysha Akhtar; Suzanne Thurman of MERR Institute; Blue Zone Delaware representatives; Lisa DeCrescente, producer of “The Next Girl”; Rich Ferrandino of Revive The Future; and Dorothy Greet, a plant-based educator. 

The Healing Arts Village includes meditation with Anna Fugitt of Holistic Health Delaware, yoga with Sue McCarthy of Lewes Yoga, Athena Monet - Seaside Shaman, Tao Holistics, Sound and Light Healing with Sister of Sun Wellness, Sound Therapy with Wendy Borror and Back to School Immune Boosting with Cicely Everson.  The music tent is sponsored by the Listening Booth, and includes owner Marissa Lerer, Logan Daisey, Alex Razze, Roo on Uke, GoldStar and Kkarma. 

Gallery 50 will host an evening of art starting at 6 p.m., Sept. 14, with an exhibition featuring works by Aysha Akhtar, with appetizers provided by Indigo Rehoboth.

The weekend wraps up with a vegan brunch from 8 a.m. to 3 p.m., Sept. 15, at Nectar in Lewes; tickets are $20.
