Police investigating Georgetown armed robbery

June 4, 2023

Delaware State Police are investigating an armed robbery that took place in the early evening of June 3.

Police say a 62-year-old woman pulled into her home on Governor Stockley Road and was sitting in her driveway when she was approached by two Black men, both armed with handguns. One of the men sat in the passenger seat while the other opened her door and demanded her phone and bank cards, police said. Police say the man who opened the door then pulled the woman out of her car, got inside and tried to drive away. The two men soon abandoned the car and ran to their own vehicle parked on an adjacent dirt driveway and fled. The woman was not injured.

The victim described the men as wearing dark clothing. No vehicle description is available and surveillance video has not been acquired.

Troop 4 in Georgetown is still investigating the incident. Anyone with more information should contact Det. Hill at 752-3792. Information can also be given at Delaware State Police via Facebook Messenger or calling Delaware Crime Stoppers at 1-800-847-3333.
