Presidential election was not fixed

December 29, 2020

I cannot believe that people still believe the presidential election was fixed when all the evidence, all the court cases, many before Republican justices, the Republican election officials in Republican controlled states, and cabinet and some administration officials declare it was not.

If the Democrats wanted to fix the election, why didn’t they defeat Trump’s enabling senators, Mitch McConnell, Lindsay Graham, Joni Ernst and Susan Collins?

They are the ones who control what legislation gets passed.

I suspect there were other issues which resulted in Trump’s defeat by 7 million votes.  Perhaps it was because he never made an effort to increase his base, which last time gave him 3 million fewer votes than Hillary Clinton.  Perhaps it was because he so botched the coronavirus response.  Perhaps it was because he encouraged racial and ethnic hatred to come to the forefront.

I know that this letter will not change the minds of those who believe the constant and deliberate lies which are perpetrated by his followers, but as a person who lost his grandparents in the Holocaust, and who has worked all my life to protect democracy, I saw where Trump’s adminstration was headed.

Democracy is not always pretty, and certainly not perfect, but it is the best path for us, and thank God it prevailed in November.
