Purchase tickets by Aug. 23 for Aug. 27 Kent County’s Bounty farm-to-fork dinner
Delaware Farm Bureau Foundation and Kent County Farm Bureau will host the second annual Kent County's Bounty farm-to-fork dinner at 5:30 p.m., Saturday, Aug. 27, on family-owned and -operated G&S Dairy Farm in Harrington. The event will feature fresh, local Kent County-grown food and drink, and proceeds will support the Food Bank of Delaware. Attendees will enjoy a gourmet meal prepared by Abbott's Grill in Milford as well as the Food Bank's own culinary instructor Chef Tim Hunter and his culinary students.
Attendees will meet Delaware farmers and learn what it takes to get food from farms to forks, while supporting an organization partnering with shelters, food closets and soup kitchens that served 915,000 visitors in 2015. With 120,000 food-insecure families in Delaware, the Kent County Farm Bureau is hoping to help significantly lessen that number this year.
The night will begin with a farm tour and will lead to hors d'oeuvres and a cocktail hour featuring local beer and wine near the milking parlor on the farm. A full-service dinner featuring Kent County locally raised meats and in-season produce will be served by Kent County farmers and farm bureau members. Farm owners Gregg and Stephanie Knutsen will be on hand for tours and to speak about their operation.
Cocktail hour will begin promptly at 6 p.m., and dinner will be served at 7 p.m. Tickets are $100. To purchase tickets, go to www.delawarefarmbureau.eventbrite.com. Net proceeds will go to the Food Bank. Deadline for ticket sales is Tuesday, Aug. 23.
