Radio Rehoboth names Dave Beacon news director

May 7, 2022

Radio Rehoboth community radio station has named Dave Beacon as its news director.

“Dave created much of the format and flow of our award-winning Daybreak morning show and has been an integral part of the morning show’s day-to-day operations for years, as well as appearing on the show on a regular basis. It seems like a natural fit for him to become the news director and continue to perfect what we do here and provide news to our listeners,” said Jeff Balk, general manager.

Beacon is the creator of Shore News Beacon, a local breaking news delivery source with more than 82,000 followers. Shore News Beacon provides breaking news coverage daily to the Maryland Eastern Shore and Delaware.

“I have always had a strong desire to follow the news and be in the know. A few years ago, I offered to help Radio Rehoboth with providing news and information to their listeners. I never thought this journey would lead where it has with the growth of the station and popularity of the Daybreak show, but it is very humbling to be able to have even more impact on the quality and content of news delivery in this region,” said Beacon.

Beacon will take on more of a co-host role for the morning show, allowing Radio Rehoboth to provide more breaking news coverage than it had been able to do previously.

“Dave will be able to provide us with information about crashes, fires, and other activities that may be disrupting traffic as they happen. His personality and knowledge of the area and news are a great addition to our on-air programming,” said Balk.

“Community radio is all about educating and informing the public, and whatever it takes to make that the best it can be, that is what we will do,” said Beacon.
