Raymond J. Bradley, philosophy professor
Dr. Raymond J. Bradley, PhD, 91, of Lewes passed away Tuesday, Dec. 24, 2019, at Beebe Healthcare in Lewes. He was born Aug. 7, 1928, in Gallitzin, Pa., son of the late Paul Joseph and Laura Elizabeth (Buck) Bradley.
Dr. Bradley was a professor of philosophy at Saint Francis University in Pennsylvania for over 30 years. He retired as professor emeritus from the university in May 1993. Dr. Bradley enjoyed woodworking, camping, hiking and being in the woods. He also had a passion for listening to classical music, astronomy and riding motorcycles. Dr. Bradley was a literacy tutor and taught inmates at the local prisons. He was a member of St. Jude the Apostle Catholic Church in Lewes, and a former member of St. Michael the Archangel parish in Loretto, Pa. Dr. Bradley was also a docent at the Lewes Historical Society in his spare time.
In addition to his parents, Dr. Bradley was preceded in death by his brother, James Bradley; and his sister Christine Douglas. He is survived by his wife of 62 years, B. Virginia "Ginny" (Wilshire) Bradley; his daughters: Marcy Bradley (Pat Kulina) of Lewes, Nancy Loiselle (John) of Westminster, Mass., Laura Gettings (Jim) of Sterling, Va., and Beth Peticca (Mark) of Strasburg, Pa.; his grandchildren: Ian Kerr (Elissa) of Kalamazoo, Mich., Emma Kerr of Holyoke, Mass., Payton Kulina of Washington, D.C., Zoe Kulina (Myles Friedman) of Brooklyn, N.Y., and Marco and Mary Peticca of Strasburg, Pa.; and his great-grandchildren: Noah and Milo Kerr of Kalamazoo.
Mass of Christian Burial will be held Friday, Jan. 3, 2020 at 11 a.m., at St. Jude the Apostle Catholic Church, 152 Tulip Drive, Lewes, where friends may call beginning at 10 a.m. Interment will be at a later date in Loretto. Arrangements are being handled by Parsell Funeral Homes & Crematorium, Atkins-Lodge Chapel, Lewes.
