Reading the Cape Gazette with one eye open on the William Bartram Trail

October 20, 2019

Recently, members of the McLean clan headed to the beautiful Blue Ridge mountains of North Carolina to hike the remarkably biodiverse William Bartram Trail at over 4000 feet.

The trail is named for noted Philadelphia botanist of the 1700s. Somehow he made it from Philly to western North Carolina and Florida during the American Revolution.

Shown (l-r) are Will (William Copley McLean, Jr.), Lee (Walter Copley McLean, Sr.) and Peter Copley McLean. Will & Lee are doctors in Asheville, NC and Peter resides in Lewes with his wife and is on sabbatical from St. Andrew’s School in Middletown, DE.
